I'm reading the Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood. I'm not very far in but i really like the way it is written so far. It's very descriptive and it gives you things to imagine with every sense. You can smell the perfume of the girls lingering in the old gym, you can hear the drums, and picture the terrible prom decorations hanging from the ceiling. Its also kind of confusing because its set in the future and they describe the past which is similar to 2013 but a lot of the things the girls do and wear seem like they should be from the 1800s. Women are not allowed to read in this strange future time and the main characters and all the girls with working ovaries are in some sort of weird home where they are trying to help increase the population. There is a guy in the house called the commander and he has a wife but he also has this collection of girls in red dresses. they're all called Handmaids but they are kept under lock and key because apparently fertile girls are a commodity. So far its really strange and kid of confusing but i like it because its written so well and even though its strange its also really interesting.
